Downtown San Antonio is vibrant and happening. You'll be close to the famous River Walk. Did you know that The River Walk was built to prevent flooding in San Antonio? Originally, they considered paving over what is now the River Walk. But Robert Hugman came up with a plan to build small shops, bridges and walks and is now considered the father of the River Walk. Amid much controversy, fighting and politics, the Works Project Administration built the project. But it wasn’t until the World’s Fair, known as Hemisfair came to San Antonio, that the hotels and shops along the river were built. Since then, the River Walk has grown and grown and made San Antonio what it is today.
Visit the San Antonio Zoo close by or hop or over to Historic Market Square to do some shopping and have huevos at Mi Tierra or lunch at one of the other spots. Take a self-guided walking tour through the historic King William neighborhood. You can take the VIVA buses to a lot of destinations around downtown and close by or use a San Antonio Bike Share.
You'll have a huge choice of restaurants along the River Walk in or close by to downtown San Antonio. Thrilllist has an extensive list but I can't necessarily vouch for all of them.
