San Antonio Homestead Exemption 2020

It’s Time to File Your Bexar County Homestead Exemption for 2020

bexar county homestead exemption how to fileIt’s that time of the year again when it’s time to file your Bexar County Homestead Exemption.

Did you own your home on January 1st?

If you owned your home and occupied it on January 1st of a given year, you can file your exemption for that year. If you purchased a home in 2020, as an example, but it was after January 1st, then you will qualify the following year. However, this may vary based on the exemption(s) you qualify for. Also note that it must be your primary residence and the application must be filed before your district’s deadline in April.

Other Exemptions

Besides a homestead exemption, you may qualify for a Disabled Individual Exemption, Disable Veteran Exemption, an Agricultural and Over-65 Exemption.

What You’ll Need

When you apply for your exemption with the appraisal district, you must have a Texas Driver’s license or a Texas ID card with the address that matches the address for which your are applying for the homestead exemption.

Homestead Exemption is Free

Remember that applying for a Bexar County Homestead Exemption is free and must be filed only once. But it is your responsibility as the homeowner to apply for your exemptions.
