How Habitat for Humanity San Antonio Works

An Interview & Tour with Sarah Arredondo, Marketing Associate of Habitat for Humanity

Think that Habitat for Humanity only builds houses? They do so much more!

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit that builds homes for first-time low-income home buyers that cannot purchase a traditional home – about 55 per year in San Antonio. I met with Sarah Arredondo, a Marketing Associate for Habitat for Humanity recently and interviewed her plus took a tour of some of the departments at the Probandt store. Watch the video.

Proceeds from Sales go to Administration Costs

The proceeds from sales in the Home Centers fund the administration costs for Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio.  This means that 100% of every dollar donated to Habitat goes directly to their home building program. They have three home improvement thrift stores that sell new and used building supplies – like windows and doors, beautiful soft-close cabinets, home décor, tile and rugs in San Antonio. They receive donations from organizations and individuals but also buy discounted items from some people that purchase items in bulk and bring back the savings back to their stores.

Sarah Arredondo, Marketing Associate

Sarah’s position includes promoting the stores to the community, talking to the community about re-purposing items instead of filling landfills and connecting volunteers with the volunteer coordinator.  Are you remodeling and need a wrecking crew? You can hire Habitat for Humanity to remove cabinets, doors, windows, etc., for a lower cost and then they bring it back to the stores to sell. So you can support Habitat for Humanity while saving money on your remodeling project.
